This transmission requires just under 3-Quarts of oil.<\/strong><\/span> We recommend that the fluid in a TREMEC T5 transmission should be changed after its initial 1000-2000 miles. <\/strong><\/span> The fluid should be inspected between 30,000 and 50,000 miles after that.<\/strong> For severe driving or racing, fluid changes should be made frequently, especially when operating temperatures of the transmission fluid exceed 250\u00b0F, inspect accordingly.<\/strong>   VIDEO: https:\/\/youtu.be\/JdG8sIQIcrI   CAUTION<\/strong><\/span> Do not mix different brands or types of transmission lubricant in any transmission.<\/span> DO NOT USE GEAR OIL IN THE T5 TRANSMISSION SINCE THIS MAY DAMAGE THE BLOCKING RING MATERIAL.<\/span>   APPROVED LUBRICANT.<\/strong> Most T5<\/strong> transmission models use Dexron\u00d2 II automatic transmission fluid.\u00a0 – Click the link below for more information on this. First Fill<\/strong><\/h2>\n

a. Remove fill plug (2).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> b. Add approved lubricant. (see above) <\/span>c. When the transmission is full, the lubricant will just drip out fill the plug opening. <\/span>d. Install fill plug and torque to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm).<\/span>   CHANGING LUBRICANT.<\/strong> Proceed as follows<\/span> a. Wipe drain and fill plugs (1 and 2) and surrounding areas clean.<\/span> b. Place a suitable container under the transmission.<\/span> c. Remove drain plug (1).<\/span> d. Remove the fill plug (2).<\/span> e. Allow all lubricant to drain.<\/span> f. Install drain plug (1) and torque to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm).<\/span> g. Add lubricant Through fill plug opening until lubricant just begins to drip back out of the opening.<\/span> h. Install fill plug and torque to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm).<\/span>     Things to remember<\/strong> If you remove your T5 from your vehicle before it comes out please plug the tailshaft bearing seal.
