Power Automedia stopped by the booth at the 2018 SEMA show to interview Bruce Couture, owner of Modern Driveline. A five and six speed conversion company that has been around for 20 years provides tailored transmission solutions to fit the vehicle and driveing preferences of the owner.
A number of driveline components were on display in the booth. Among them were the centerpieces of any MDL conversion system – the transmissions themselves.

- T5 5-speed
Bruce explained some of the offerings on display. “We couple the Tremec transmission with Quicktime products, and our own line of flywheels, clutches, hydraulics, and custom crossmembers. We use Dynotech aluminum driveshafts, and QA1 carbon fiber driveshafts, rated to handle 2,000 horsepower! ”
Bruce also got in-depth about MDL’s line of clutches, “We do a lot of custom clutches. We actually build them in-house. We’ve been building clutches that cater to the user who is looking for drivability above all else. It’s amazing how many clutches we have out on the market today. The idea behind that is – we want to make sure a person really takes the time to choose the right clutch for them. Basically, we just want to make sure that what they have is going to last, and that we continually give value to our customers.”
