Q. Is using an aluminum flywheel a good idea on for a street car? A. While an aluminum flywheel is lighter and spins up faster, it also has less storged energy making the engine easier to stall at low rpms. If pairs with a dual clutch set, does offset some of the added weight. Aluminum flywheels should never be paired with ceramic or bronze clutches due to the added heat they generate.
