      T5/TR3550/C4/toploader Tailshaft Seal

      Fits:
      Ford T5 TR3550 / C4 / Toploader or any transmission that has a 28-spline slip yoke with a 1.5in. OD sleeve Kit contains Tail housing Seal # 8850Xand bushing # MD-505-1032 

      Features:
      • The Bushing has a slot in the to promote oiling, 
      Note: When pressing the bushing into the tail stock ensure the slot aligns with the oiling valley in the tail stock housing.
      The proper depth of the bushing can be determined when the bushing sits flush with the tailstock recess in which it is fitted.
      ( See the photo below. )



      We do not recommend tapping or driving the bushing into place, as it may deform the bushing. Bushing requires the tail stock housing to be removed or special tooling to pull and install.

      Thought my output shaft was twisted since my slip yoke only went into my 3550 about 3/4". After pulling the tail shaft housing off I realized the bushing was shot, score marks all over etc. Knocked out the old one with a bearing press tool and hammer, and installed the new one with the tail shaft housing on a hydraulic press. Easy process, but be sure to line up the hole with the drain line, and make sure the bushing is straight. The fit was perfect, a little loose on the slip yoke before install, but ended up being perfect after install since it compressed very slightly. Seal was installed the same way and seems great. Overall super happy, would definitely recommend.
