Description
When you need the aggressive bite and heat resistance of ceramic but want better street manners than a full-ceramic disc, this hybrid ceramic/Kevlar clutch setup delivers both. The ceramic flywheel-side facing provides the initial grab and thermal stability required for high-horsepower launches and hard-shifting road racing, while the Kevlar facing on the pressure plate side smooths out engagement for daily driving and extends service life.
The engineering here solves a common problem: getting more holding power when a larger diameter disc or heavier clamp load pressure plate isn't an option. Ceramic friction material has a higher coefficient of friction than organic or Kevlar-only discs, so it bites harder and holds more torque with the same clamping force. MDL ceramics contain iron pieces that actually create more friction as the material gets hotter, making them ideal for racing applications where extreme heat and abuse are the norm. At 600 ft-lb torque capacity, this 11" setup handles serious power in a compact package.
The low lever height diaphragm pressure plate is specifically designed to provide the clearance needed for hydraulic concentric slave cylinder installations, eliminating the interference issues that plague many aftermarket clutches. Every MDL Superior clutch is hand-assembled in-house with absolute care using the finest components available, then double-riveted to ensure quality and flawless operation straight out of the box.
