Description
Factory mechanical clutch linkage works fine under stock conditions, but when you ask it to handle the added pressure of a high-performance clutch setup, the stock Z-bar can bend or break. Worn bushings, sloppy pivot points, and binding linkage rods create inconsistent pedal feel and premature wear. The engineering centers on eliminating the friction and slop that plague mechanical linkages. Teflon-lined spherical rod ends and heim joints remove the binding points that make clutch pedal effort inconsistent. The fully TIG welded Z-bar features integrated spherical bearings at the pivot points, while the CNC machined pivot tube ensures precise geometry that won't wear out or develop play over time. These design choices matter because spherical mounting points articulate freely under load without the friction and binding that rubber bushings create.
The solid linkage rods use male rod ends so your stock rubber firewall boot still works properly - no need to source aftermarket seals or leave gaps in your firewall. Both upper and lower linkage rods are fully adjustable, giving you the ability to clock the Z-bar position to clear headers or fine-tune pedal engagement height. This adjustability also means you can compensate for clutch wear over time without replacing components.
Installation uses all stock Ford mounting locations and pivot points for 1965-1966 Mustang applications with 289, 302, or 351W engines.
