Description
Swapping to a TKO or TKX five-speed means ditching the factory mechanical speedometer cable - but your electronic dash, engine management system, or cruise control still needs a reliable speed signal. This digital speedometer sensor plugs directly into the Ford-style VSS port on your TREMEC transmission's passenger-side tail housing and delivers a clean 16-pulse signal that works with the industry-standard 16,000 pulses-per-mile input most aftermarket speedometers and ECUs expect.
The three-wire Hall effect design provides a stable square wave output that won't degrade over long wire runs. The included 10-foot pigtail harness gives you plenty of length to route wiring cleanly through the tunnel and up to your dash or ECU, with a three-pin connector for easy hookup. The Allen-head mounting bolt is a thoughtful detail - standard hex-head fasteners can interfere with the sensor body in tight quarters, so this design ensures proper installation without clearance issues.
Beyond the TKO and TKX, this sensor also works with T-5z 5-speed and 6-speed Magnum transmissions when paired with Ford-driven speedometer gears and a retainer clip. Note that it does not fit Super Magnum, Magnum XL, or Magnum F transmissions - those use a different VSS configuration. If you're running a Dakota Digital, Classic Instruments, Auto Meter, or other programmable electronic speedometer, this sensor's 16,000 PPM output drops right into their standard calibration range.
