Description
Slamming into reverse at speed is a quick way to grenade a gearbox. This 5-speed shift ball eliminates that risk with an integrated side-mounted push button lockout that requires deliberate activation before reverse can be selected. The button includes wiring for connection to various shifter configurations that utilize electronic or mechanical reverse lockout functionality.
The ball itself is built from specially formulated high-impact polymer resin designed specifically for the automotive industry. Unlike cheap plastic knobs that crack under stress or go chalky from heat cycles, this material resists stress cracking with age while handling the torque and temperature swings of hard driving. The 1-7/8" diameter provides solid palm contact for confident shifting, and the polished white finish cleans up easily.
Mounting uses a 16mm x 1.50 brass master insert with an included brass jam nut. This thread size is common on 1982-2002 Camaro and Firebird shifters, Pontiac Fiero applications, and various aftermarket shifters. For other thread sizes, pair this shift ball with MDL thread reducers to adapt down to your specific shifter requirements.
