The 1967 model year presents unique challenges -- GM introduced a new collapsible steering column mid-year that changed the pedal assembly geometry, requiring specific rod lengths and Z-bar configurations that don't interchange with '66 or earlier hardware.
The included small block Z-bar (clutch bellcrank) is engineered specifically for small block engine applications. Big block 396 engines use a different Z-bar due to exhaust manifold clearance requirements and oil pressure sending unit positioning -- this kit is for small blocks only. The Z-bar provides the mechanical leverage multiplication that transfers pedal input to clutch fork movement through a series of precisely-dimensioned linkage components.
The system works together as a matched set: the firewall rod transfers motion from the clutch pedal through the firewall boot to the Z-bar assembly, the cross shaft kit provides smooth pivot points, and the adjustable rod allows fine-tuning of clutch engagement. The return spring ensures positive pedal action, while the rod clips secure all connections reliably. Both the firewall rod boot and clutch fork boot protect the system from contamination.
Fits 1967 Chevelle with small block engines. Not for big block applications -- those require a different Z-bar configuration.
