    Key Features

    • Innovative pedal linkage design matches pedal travel with long-stroke master cylinder for dramatically reduced pedal effort
    • 0.750-inch bore with 1.4-inch stroke generates optimal fluid volume for most internal and external slave cylinders
    • Uses stock clutch pedal and original clutch rod hole for simplified installation with minimal vehicle modification
    • Silver billet aluminum remote reservoir with leak-proof design eliminates problematic hose clamps
    • Firewall support plate mounts behind brake master cylinder or booster for maximum structural rigidity
    • Aluminum master cylinder body positioned directly in front of clutch pedal for optimal leverage
    • Compatible with most internal hydraulic release bearings and external slave cylinders
    • Made in the USA

    Description

Traditional hydraulic clutch conversions for '70-'71 Camaro and Firebird F-bodies have relied on oversized master cylinders mounted directly to the pedal, creating excessive pedal pressure, limited stroke, and fitment headaches with brake boosters. The common approach was to use a 3/4 or 7/8-inch bore by 1-inch stroke master cylinder connected to the pedal directly, resulting in improper pedal pressure and requiring the cylinder to be raised higher than the stock clutch rod linkage hole. The MDL LF Series eliminates these problems with an innovative linkage system that maximizes the mechanical advantage of your factory clutch pedal geometry.

The LF Series linkage makes it possible to use the mechanical clutch linkage rod hole, allowing the master cylinder to be positioned perpendicular to the firewall while providing mechanical advantage that reduces the pedal pressure required to operate the clutch. This design also allows the full stroke of the pedal to maximize clutch modulation. The master cylinder mounts on a firewall support plate that bolts under the brake master cylinder or booster -- the strongest section of the firewall structure -- eliminating the flex that plagues direct-mount hydraulic setups.

The precision-machined aluminum master cylinder features a 0.750-inch bore with a 1.4-inch stroke, a carefully calculated ratio that generates the fluid volume required by modern hydraulic slave cylinders without overworking your pedal. The silver billet aluminum reservoir mounts remotely on the firewall and connects with a leak-proof system that eliminates the problematic hose clamps found on lesser kits. Fill with DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid -- no high-temp fluid required.

Each kit includes everything needed for installation, including MDL's exclusive one-man bleeder kit that simplifies system bleeding. Compatible with most internal and external slave cylinders, including Tilton Engineering 6000 Series internal hydraulic release bearings, this system transforms clutch operation in your classic F-body with professional-grade engineering. Works with original factory pedals and OE reproduction aftermarket pedals. Made in the USA.

    FAQs

    Q. Why won't my transmission go into gear? A. Check your 'Master Cylinder throw distance, it should be 1.4". You may have to adjust your clutch pedal height in the vehicle. Q. Why is my pedal bottoming out ? A. Adjust your clevis and your pedal, balance the amount of adjustment you need between the two until your pedal does not bottom out anymore. Q. My pedal feels spongy and the slave cylinder does move right away. A. You have air trapped in the system, re-bleed the system again, follow the bleed instructions, or see the video on bleeding hydraulics on this page under the Video Tab Q. What type of fluid do I use in my clutch hydraulics? A. DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid only in this application. There is no need for high temp brake fluid. Q. Will this kit work a stock clutch pedal? A. Yes, it will fit an original factory pedal and an OE reproduction aftermarket pedal.
