Description
When your original shifter boot retainer plate is cracked, rusted, or missing entirely, the rubber shifter boot loses its seal against the transmission tunnel. The result is increased cabin noise and heat intrusion from the drivetrain and exhaust below. This stamped steel retainer plate restores that critical seal, keeping road grime, exhaust heat, and drivetrain noise where they belong -- outside the passenger compartment.
The heavy-gauge stamped steel construction replicates the original GM design used on second-generation F-Body Camaros. Beveled edges around the perimeter allow the shifter boot to flex slightly during gear changes without binding or tearing, extending boot life while maintaining a tight seal. This design detail ensures the retainer works as intended through thousands of shifting cycles.
