    Description

Stop cobbling together mismatched hydraulic components and hoping for acceptable pedal feel. MDL's LF (Light Foot) Series master cylinder kit is purpose-engineered for 1972-1981 Camaro and Firebird applications, delivering the precise fluid volume and pedal leverage modern clutch systems demand while maintaining factory ergonomics. Featured on Car Fix TV's Firebird TKO conversion, this system delivers professional results without the trial-and-error of custom fabrication.

The heart of the system is a precisely-sized 0.75-inch bore master cylinder with a long-stroke design that generates optimal fluid volume for today's hydraulic slave cylinders. The small-bore, long-stroke geometry maximizes mechanical advantage from your stock clutch pedal, translating to noticeably lighter pedal effort and superior modulation. By using the factory full swing of the pedal, you get maximum leverage without modifying the pedal assembly.

A robust firewall support plate mounts behind your brake master cylinder or booster, locating the hydraulic system where the firewall structure is strongest. This eliminates the flex that plagues poorly-designed kits and ensures consistent pedal feel under aggressive driving. The kit retains your existing clutch pedal and uses the stock rod hole, minimizing interior changes while delivering a modern hydraulic clutch experience.

The CNC-machined silver billet aluminum reservoir adds a clean, finished look while the OE-quality remote design eliminates troublesome hose clamps that can leak over time. Compatible with most internal and external slave cylinders including Tilton Engineering hydraulic release bearings for a complete clutch solution. Uses DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. Engineered and manufactured in the USA.

    FAQs

    Q. Why won't my transmission go into gear? A. Check your 'Master Cylinder throw distance, it should be 1.4". You may have to adjust your clutch pedal height in the vehicle. Q. Why is my pedal bottoming out ? A. Adjust your clevis and your pedal, balance the amount of adjustment you need between the two until your pedal does not bottom out anymore. Q. My pedal feels spongy and the slave cylinder does move right away. A. You have air trapped in the system, re-bleed the system again, follow the bleed instructions, or see the video on bleeding hydraulics on this page under the Video Tab Q. What type of fluid do I use in my clutch hydraulics? A. DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid only in this application. There is no need for high temp brake fluid. Q. Will this kit work a stock clutch pedal? A. Yes, it will fit an original factory pedal and an OE reproduction aftermarket pedal.
