Anti-Rotation Stud | Tilton 6000 Series HRB | 8mm x 1.25 | Ford & GM T5
Key Features
- 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch matches Ford and GM T5 bearing retainer bolt holes
- Locks Tilton 6000 series hydraulic release bearing height adjustment in place
- Prevents unwanted rotation of the HRB during clutch engagement cycles
- Can be trimmed shorter if stud extends past the face of the release bearing
- Replaces one of the original bearing retainer bolts during installation
Description
Tilton 6000 series hydraulic release bearings thread onto an adjustable collar to achieve precise bearing-to-clutch clearance--but that adjustment is useless if the bearing rotates out of position during operation. This anti-rotation stud threads into one of the bearing retainer bolt holes on Ford and GM T5 transmissions, engaging the locating ear on the HRB housing to lock everything in place once you've dialed in your setup.
The 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch is specific to Ford and GM T5 applications. Installation requires removing one of the lower bearing retainer bolts and threading the stud in its place. Tilton specifies using Loctite 272 (red) thread locking compound and torquing to 16 lb-ft--do not overtighten. If the stud extends past the face of the release bearing after installation, it can be cut shorter to avoid interference with the clutch.
This is a critical component for any Tilton 6000 series HRB installation on a T5. Without it, the bearing can rotate on its threaded collar, changing the carefully set .125-inch bearing-to-clutch clearance and causing engagement issues. The stud keeps everything locked down so the self-adjusting HRB piston can do its job without the housing walking out of position.
