Description
When a u-joint develops play, noise, or binding, the bearing cups are often the culprit. These 1-1/8 inch outer diameter bearing cups are precision replacement components that restore your universal joint to proper operating condition. The cups house the needle bearings that allow the cross trunnion to rotate freely, and when they wear or sustain damage, replacement is the only fix -- u-joints are not repairable components.
These 1-1/8" (1.125") bearing caps fit u-joint applications that use this specific cap diameter, including 3R series joints commonly found in older GM and Mopar applications, as well as Ford 1330 "big cap" configurations often used at pinion flange locations. The larger cap diameter on these Ford applications was designed to resist deformation from u-joint strap overtightening at the differential.
Each cup is manufactured to exact dimensional specifications to ensure proper press-fit within the yoke ears and secure retention of the needle bearing assembly. The bearing caps are designed to be a pressed fit in the yoke and should not move once installed. Sold as a matched pair for complete service of one side of your u-joint cross.
