Description
Dropped a modern TREMEC into your classic Ford and don't want to ditch your factory mechanical speedometer? The Abbott Cable-X solves the problem that every transmission swap creates: your new gearbox outputs an electronic VSS signal, but your original gauge needs a spinning cable to move the needle. The Cable-X bridges that gap by converting the transmission's electronic speed signal into mechanical rotation your stock speedometer understands.
This is the original speedometer adapter design that started the category. The Cable-X picks up the electronic signal from your TKX, TKO, T56 Magnum, or any other VSS-equipped transmission and translates it to drive your cable-operated gauge with +/-2% accuracy on most OEM electronic speed signals. No costly gear swaps, no custom cables, no expensive gauge conversions - just an adapter that makes your existing speedometer work.
Installation is straightforward with just three wire connections through the included Ford snap-on connector: red to switched 12V power (protected by a 5-amp fuse), black to ground, and white to the transmission's VSS signal wire. The compact metal housing measures 4.75" x 3.5" x 2.25", making it easy to mount anywhere in the engine bay or under the dash.
The Cable-X works with mechanical speedometers from all major gauge manufacturers including Autometer, Clark Brothers, Datcon, Stewart Warner, and Teleflex, as well as original equipment Ford gauges. Designed and manufactured by Abbott Enterprises - the company that invented the electronic-to-mechanical speedometer converter and remains the industry standard.
