Description
When you need maximum torque capacity in a 10.4" footprint but can't increase disc diameter or pressure plate clamping force, friction material is your lever. This Superior Series clutch uses a hybrid facing configuration--Kevlar on the flywheel side for smooth initial engagement, ceramic on the pressure plate side for aggressive bite and superior heat resistance. Ceramics and semi-metallics have a higher coefficient of friction than organic or full-Kevlar materials, so the disc bites harder and holds more power given the same clamping force.
The ceramic facing contains iron particles that actually increase friction as temperature climbs--exactly what you need during repeated hard launches or sustained track abuse. This makes the hybrid configuration ideal for drag racing launches and road racing heat cycles where standard organic facings would glaze or fade. The Kevlar side keeps initial pedal feel smooth and progressive rather than grabby, so you get race-ready holding power without sacrificing street manners.
