While an aluminum flywheel is lighter and spins up faster, it also has less storged energy making the engine easier to stall at low rpms. If pairs with a dual clutch set, does offset some of the added weight. Aluminum flywheels should never be paired with ceramic or bronze clutches due to the added heat they generate.
