Description
Ford's 351M and 400 engines share the same flywheel diameter and ring gear, but factory flywheels were drilled for different clutch sizes - 11" for the 351M and 12" for the 400. This Superior clutch set solves that compatibility headache with a dual-drilled pressure plate that fits both 3-3/8" and 12-3/8" bolt circles, giving you flexibility whether you're working with an original single-pattern flywheel or a later dual-drilled service replacement.
The organic friction material on both disc faces delivers smooth, progressive engagement that's ideal for street driving and weekend cruising. Unlike aggressive racing compounds that grab hard and chatter at low speeds, organic facings modulate predictably in stop-and-go traffic while still handling 300 ft-lb of torque. The sprung hub design absorbs driveline shock during engagement, protecting your transmission input shaft, U-joints, and axles from the harsh impacts that solid hub discs transmit straight through the drivetrain.
Every Superior clutch disc is hand-built in-house at MDL - not mass-produced overseas. Each assembly is double-checked for runout, spline fit, and facing integrity before it ships. This kit is designed exclusively for hydraulic throwout bearing actuation systems; it will not work with mechanical linkage or cable-operated setups. Note that pilot bearing and throwout bearing are not included and must be purchased separately based on your specific bellhousing and release system.
