Description
Front-shift T5 conversions create a shifter placement problem: the stock shifter sits too far back for hot rods, street rods, and tight-cockpit builds. The Qwik Stik solves this by pairing with MDL's front shift tail housings to move the shift lever exactly where classic car ergonomics demand - no compromises, no awkward reach.
This shifter has been specifically engineered to work exclusively with MDL's MD-510-1001 front shift T5 tail shaft housings or any MDL front shift T5 front position transmission. Standard shift position tail housings will not work. The front shift position places the shift pivot point at 11.75 inches back from the main case, and the 1.950" or 2.450" forward offset stub moves the shift knob even further into the driver's reach zone.
The engineering focus was clearance and control. The compact billet aluminum turret clears restrictive floor openings that trap larger shifters, while the close-ratio mechanism delivers short, precise throws. Belleville washers provide excellent detent feel - that crisp 2-3 shift feedback gearheads demand. Unlike designs with breakable stops, this shifter has no stops; the spring-loaded detent system eliminates failure points and makes servicing straightforward.
Positioning flexibility sets this shifter apart. The standard 7/8-inch on-center mounting accepts most aftermarket shift levers, so you can attach your preferred lever, boot, and shift knob.
