Description
The TREMEC T56 Magnum TUET16884 solves the torque limitation that plagued the original T56. Introduced in spring 2009, the Magnum delivers a massive 700 lb-ft torque capacity through substantially increased gear face widths and 2-piece laser-beam welded gear construction. Based heavily on the TR-6060 found in factory supercars like the ZR1 Corvette and ACR Viper, the Magnum combines TREMEC's OEM design and manufacturing technologies with the most popular features of the TKO 5-speed.
This TUET16884 features the wide-ratio gear set with 2.97 first gear and close-ratio 0.80/0.63 double overdrive—ideal for street-driven builds that need strong acceleration through the lower gears while maintaining relaxed highway cruising RPM. The 85mm center distance and bolstered one-piece countershaft resist distortion under load, while redesigned shift forks and fine-tooth synchronizer angles deliver incredibly short, low-effort throws with crisp engagement even at high RPM.
Triple-cone synchronizers on gears 1 through 4 and double-cone synchronizers on 5th, 6th, and reverse handle aggressive shifts with ease. The fully reversible TKO-style die-cast aluminum shifter provides smooth, positive shift action with two stock shifter positions, plus built-in mid-shift provisions under the inspection cover for simple forward shifter placement in bench-seat applications. Dual speedometer outputs accommodate both mechanical and electronic gauges, and the reverse lockout solenoid and reverse light switch are built in.
Configured for Ford applications with a 26-spline input shaft and 31-spline output shaft. Compatible with cable release clutch systems via the included hardened steel guide tube. The extensively modified transmission case prevents leaks under high-stress conditions and increases overall power-handling capabilities. Uses 3.66 quarts of TREMEC HP-MTF, Dexron III, or Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.
