    Description

    When your Ford small block is pushing serious power - well north of 1000 lb-ft - you need a clutch engineered from the ground up for that punishment. The Tilton ST-246 twin-disc clutch brings championship-winning technology to the street/strip market, backed by Tilton Engineering's 50+ years of supplying racing clutches to F1, NASCAR, IMSA, IndyCar, SCCA, Formula Drift, and SCORE.

    Unlike typical performance clutches that adapt OEM-type stamped steel pressure plates with a floater tacked on, the ST-246 was designed from scratch as a true twin-disc system. The precision-machined aluminum clutch cover shares technology from Tilton's OT-Series racing clutches, delivering higher strength, stiffness, and better balance than stamped steel alternatives. The floater plate is twice the thickness of most competing twin-disc designs - this extra mass enables the solid-hub configuration that handles 1250 lb-ft, eliminates gear clatter, and provides substantially better heat dissipation under hard use.

    The cerametallic disc option delivers positive, precise engagement characteristics ideal for street/strip duty where consistent bite matters. The high-mass main pressure plate and floater plate are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, providing high heat capacity and warpage resistance. The billet chromoly flywheel features a precision register to locate the clutch and provide optimal balance - a major upgrade over the loose-fitting bolts and dowels found on stamped steel clutch assemblies.

    Designed for Ford 289/302/351W and 351 Cleveland applications with 8-bolt crankshaft and 6-bolt clutch cover mounting. Compatible with most OEM release bearings. Note: TREMEC transmission models 11010, 11011, and 16884 require the guide tube to be trimmed 0.5" to prevent disc interference. Magnum XL applications require MD-900-2505-A hydraulic kit with hose and fitting. Made in the USA.
