The Tilton ST-246 Twin-Disc Assembly solves that problem with an 850 lb-ft torque rating while maintaining the street manners you need for daily driving. Unlike stamped steel "performance" clutches that simply add a floater plate to an OEM-style cover, the ST-246 was engineered from the ground up as a true twin-disc clutch—leveraging Tilton's 45+ years of experience building championship-winning clutches for F1, NASCAR, IMSA, and IndyCar.
The precision-machined aluminum cover shares technology with Tilton's OT-Series racing clutches, delivering higher strength, stiffness, and better dynamic balance than any stamped steel competitor. The floater plate is twice the thickness of most twin-disc clutches on the market, which delivers three critical benefits: it allows the use of a sprung hub design at this torque level, eliminates gear clatter at idle, and provides substantially better heat dissipation under hard use. The high-mass main pressure plate and floater are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, resisting warpage and delivering high heat capacity.
The sprung hub organic discs dampen engine vibrations and reduce gearbox noise, providing smooth engagement characteristics that make this clutch livable in traffic. Heavy-duty straps attach the pressure plate and floater to the cover, minimizing noise and ensuring clean clutch release. The billet chromoly steel flywheel features a precision register that locates the clutch assembly for optimal balance—no loose-fitting bolts or dowels that allow the clutch to shift and create vibration.
Specifically engineered for Gen 5 Camaro ZL1 applications, this kit includes a Tilton 6000-Series hydraulic release bearing that's height-preset at the factory and designed to connect directly to your OEM clutch line.
