Description
When your Gen 6 Camaro or C7 Corvette pushes past factory clutch limits, the Tilton ST-246 twin-disc assembly delivers 1,250 lb-ft of holding power through cerametallic discs engineered for street/strip duty. Unlike stamped steel "performance" clutches that simply add a floater plate as an afterthought, the ST-246 was designed from the ground up as a true twin-disc system--applying nearly 50 years of Tilton's championship-winning racing clutch technology to a street-friendly package.
The precision-machined aluminum clutch cover shares technology with Tilton's OT-Series racing clutches, providing superior strength, stiffness, and balance compared to OE-type stamped steel covers. Heavy-duty straps attach the pressure plate and floater plate to the cover, minimizing noise while ensuring a clean clutch release. The high-mass main pressure plate and floater plate are machined from the same proprietary materials used in Tilton's racing clutches, delivering exceptional heat capacity and warpage resistance under hard use.
The floater plate measures twice the thickness of most competing twin-disc designs, dramatically improving heat dissipation while eliminating the gear rattle that plagues lesser setups. Cerametallic discs with solid center hubs provide the positive, precise engagement characteristics that street/strip applications demand. The billet chromoly steel flywheel features an 8-bolt deep crank pattern with precision register to locate the clutch for optimal balance--a critical advantage over loose-fitting bolt patterns that create vibration issues.
This assembly is engineered specifically for factory TR-6060 transmissions with 26-spline input shafts found in Gen 6 Camaro SS and C7 Corvette applications. For TREMEC Magnum conversions, use item #MD-55-2008 instead.
