Description
A worn or damaged speedometer driven gear insert is more than an annoyance - it is a leak point that drips transmission fluid onto your garage floor and starves your gearbox of lubrication. This GM speedometer driven gear insert delivers a complete sealing solution that holds your driven gear securely in the tailhousing bore while preventing fluid migration up the speedometer cable.
The design incorporates dual sealing surfaces: an inner seal that blocks transmission fluid from escaping around the driven gear shaft, and an outer O-ring that seals against the tailhousing bore itself. The included mounting clip and bolt lock the assembly in position, preventing the insert from backing out under vibration or thermal cycling. This is the same proven design GM has used across decades of manual and automatic transmissions.
Fitment covers a wide range of GM applications including non-Magnum T56 transmissions (such as Camaro LT1/LS1 variants), S-10 T5 manual transmissions, manual three and four speeds, and Turbo 350/400 automatics. For TREMEC GM Magnum speedometer insert and gear applications, see part number MD-506-1031 instead.
