Description
When TREMEC set out to replace the legendary T56, they didn't just update it - they engineered the Magnum from the ground up using TR-6060 architecture found in factory supercars like the C6 ZR1 Corvette and Viper ACR. The result is the strongest, smoothest-shifting 6-speed manual transmission available for the aftermarket, purpose-built for GM LS engines as well as big-block and small-block applications when paired with the correct bellhousing.
This close ratio version (TUET11009) features gear ratios optimized for high-performance street driving and road racing. The 2.66 first gear launches hard without being too aggressive, while the tightly-spaced 1.78 second, 1.30 third, and 1:1 fourth keep you in the meat of your powerband. The double overdrive - 0.80 fifth and 0.63 sixth - drops highway RPM dramatically, improving both cruising comfort and fuel economy. The 4616 chromoly gears feature two-piece laser-beam welded construction with increased face widths for greater strength and more precise tooth geometry.
Inside, the Magnum benefits from modern OEM synchronizer technology: triple cone units on gears 1-4 and double cone on 5-6 and reverse deliver incredibly short, low-effort shift throws with precise engagement even at high RPM. The redesigned shift forks eliminate the wear issues that plagued earlier T56 designs, and the extensively modified case prevents leaks under high-stress conditions. The fully reversible TKO-style aluminum shifter provides multiple mounting positions, and built-in mid-shift provisions under the inspection cover make forward shifter relocation simple for bench-seat classics.
Compatible with GM big-block, small-block, and LS engines using the appropriate bellhousing. Uses standard T56 bellhousing bolt pattern with internal CSC (concentric slave cylinder) mounting provisions. Requires Dexron III ATF. Rated to 7,800 RPM.
