The standard Ford TKO600 input shaft measures 7.210 inches -- too long to clear early Ford Toploader-pattern bellhousings without adding spacers or adapters. This shortened input shaft kit solves that interference problem, allowing your TKO600 to bolt directly to original equipment-depth bellhousings used on Ford FE engines and other classic Ford applications that ran factory four-speeds.
The kit centers on a 26-spline input shaft with a 23-tooth count -- the same robust spline configuration that makes the TKO600 capable of handling 600 lb-ft of torque. The reduced shaft length brings the bearing retainer face closer to the transmission case, matching the engagement depth of the original Toploader four-speed.
