Description
Stop hunting through salvage yards for a worn-out T-56. The TREMEC Magnum-F delivers TR-6060 architecture in a purpose-built package for 1998-2002 Camaros and Firebirds, eliminating the need for questionable "Stage 6" or "Level X" rebuilds assembled with inferior offshore parts. This close-ratio variant (TUET16362) features a 2.66 first gear - ideal for high-performance street driving and road racing where tight ratio spacing keeps you in the powerband through every gear.
Inside, the Magnum-F shares componentry with today's hardest-hitting OEM muscle cars. Compared to the factory T-56, you get wider face-width on all gears, a robust combination of double and triple-cone synchronizers, enhanced webbing in the main case, and provisions for an external cooler circuit. The 4616 chromoly gears and shafts with a one-piece countershaft deliver the durability to back up the 700 lb-ft torque rating. TREMEC also upgraded to an isolator-type shifter - the same design found in the Magnum XL - which reduces in-cabin noise and vibration while delivering the precise, communicative shift feel the Magnum line is known for.
The Magnum-F's unique shifter location solves a longstanding fitment problem in the Magnum lineup. At 31.8 inches overall length, it's shorter than both the standard Magnum and the Magnum XL, placing the shifter exactly where the factory F-body console expects it. This makes it a direct swap for LS1-powered fourth-gen cars using the factory bellhousing, and it also fits third-generation F-bodies, LT1-powered fourth-gens, and sport compact applications like A80 Supras and FD RX-7s that previously relied on salvage F-body T-56 units for the correct shifter position.
Note: Requires changing the slip yoke to 31-spline from the stock 27-spline. Accepts factory internal slave cylinder from 1998-2002 F-body. The included isolator shifter will not accept 1993-2002 Camaro/Firebird shifter levers - for proper console fitment without modification, a 1993-2002 F-body style shifter is required. Fluid capacity: 4 quarts (TREMEC HP-MTF, Dexron-III, or Mobil 1 ATF). Dry weight: 128 lbs.
