The Magnum XL builds on TREMEC's proven Magnum 6-speed architecture with refinements specifically engineered for late-model Mustangs. The extended-length tail section eliminates the clumsy semi-remote shifter found in factory 5- and 6-speed applications, replacing it with a rigid direct-shift design that delivers crisp, low-effort gear changes. Triple cone synchronizers on gears 1-4 and double cone synchronizers on gears 5-6 and reverse handle engines approaching 8,000 RPM straight out of the box. With 700 lb-ft of torque capacity and an 85mm center distance, this transmission matches or exceeds the output of even heavily modified Coyote and modular builds.
The 2.97 first gear provides aggressive launches while the 0.80 and 0.63 double overdrive ratios deliver relaxed highway cruising with reduced engine wear and improved fuel economy. This wide-ratio gearset is ideal for street-driven performance cars and daily drivers that still see occasional track duty. The included SFI 6.1 certified QuickTime steel bellhousing bolts directly to Ford modular V8 engines, while the swap-specific steel crossmember and OE-quality transmission mount ensure direct-fit installation with no fabrication required.
Designed for 2005-2018 S197 and S550 Mustangs with Ford modular V8 engines. Installation requires a 26-spline clutch and one-piece driveshaft (sold separately). Reuses OEM hydraulic clutch release system. Some applications may require speedometer recalibration via ECU tuning or a plug-in signal converter. MDL extends TREMEC's factory warranty by one additional year from the date of installation and backs every kit with lifetime technical support. Made in the USA.
