Description
When your classic Ford pushes serious horsepower but you refuse to sacrifice street manners, the McLeod RXT Street Twin solves the eternal compromise. This twin-disc setup handles up to 1,000 HP while maintaining the pedal feel and engagement characteristics that make daily driving tolerable - not the on/off light-switch engagement of a full-race clutch.
The engineering centers on dual 246mm ceramic-faced friction discs that multiply clamping surface area while keeping the overall package compact. Ceramic facings deliver slightly aggressive engagement with excellent release qualities, providing the holding power for hard launches without the harsh pedal effort or grabbiness of puck-style race clutches. The Blanchard-ground floater plate incorporates multiple drive straps specifically tuned to reduce the driveline harmonics that plague many twin-disc setups at street RPM ranges.
McLeod's patent-pending adapter ring system is the key to this kit's versatility. The CNC-machined, anodized billet aluminum ring bolts directly to your existing 157-tooth Ford flywheel, eliminating the cost of a dedicated twin-disc flywheel. This small black ring configuration accommodates Ford small-block applications with 10.5" Metric (dowel pin), 10" Long (shouldered bolt), and 11-5/8" EQ pressure plate bolt patterns. Designed for 10 x 1-1/16" spline input shafts found in T5, Toploader, and other 10-spline Ford manual transmissions.
Proper break-in is critical: McLeod specifies 500-750 miles of stop-and-go driving to achieve 1,200+ clutch apply/release cycles before any wide-open-throttle use. Always resurface your flywheel with a coarse stone-grinder texture and replace the pilot bearing during installation. Made in the USA.
Kit Includes
- Diaphragm-style pressure plate
- Two ceramic friction discs (246mm diameter, solid hub)
- Blanchard-ground floater plate with multiple drive straps
- McLeod patent-pending anodized billet aluminum adapter ring (small black ring for 157T flywheels)
- Pilot alignment tool
- Premium ARP hardware
- Installation instructions
Note: This kit does not include a flywheel, pilot bearing, or throwout bearing. Reuse your existing 157-tooth flywheel (must be resurfaced) and source the appropriate pilot and throwout bearings for your specific application.
