Description
Street-legal performance cars are making more power than ever, and if you're rowing your own gears past the 500 HP mark, you need a clutch that can handle the abuse without sacrificing daily driveability. The McLeod RXT Twin Disc Clutch Kit solves the classic high-horsepower dilemma - massive holding power without the harsh engagement and heavy pedal effort that make twin-disc setups miserable in traffic.
Rated at 1,000 HP, the RXT uses two ceramic-faced 9.687" friction discs mounted to a solid hub, distributing clamping loads across four friction surfaces for superior heat dissipation and consistent engagement under hard launches. The ceramic facings provide slightly aggressive engagement - enough bite to transfer serious torque without the on/off grabbiness that plagues race-only clutches. The diaphragm-style pressure plate delivers lighter-than-stock pedal effort, making this a genuinely streetable setup for stop-and-go driving.
This economical kit uses McLeod's patent-pending large diameter adapter ring system, allowing you to retain your existing large-diameter flywheel rather than purchasing a dedicated unit. The large red adapter ring fits common big-flywheel applications including Chevy 168T, Ford 164T/176T/180T/184T, Chrysler 143T/172T, and Buick/Olds/Pontiac 160T/166T configurations. The 26-spline, 1-1/8" input shaft configuration matches T56, TKX, and other performance transmissions.
Compatible with 1955-85 Chevy V8 engines equipped with large diameter flywheels. Note: McLeod street performance clutches require a 500-750 mile break-in period of stop-and-go city driving (1,200-1,500 clutch cycles) before wide-open-throttle use or dyno tuning. This kit does not include a pilot bearing or throwout bearing. Made in the USA.
