Description
The McLeod RXT1200 solves the power-versus-drivability problem for 2010-2014 Shelby GT500 owners pushing serious horsepower. Where single-disc clutches fail and aggressive racing clutches punish your left leg in traffic, the RXT1200 twin disc design handles 1200 crank horsepower while maintaining a pedal effort comparable to stock. The secret is McLeod's patented twin disc architecture combined with ceramic friction material and a smaller 9.687-inch disc diameter that requires less diaphragm pressure to achieve the same clamp load as larger single-disc setups.
The sprung hub design sets this kit apart from rigid racing clutches. Internal springs absorb torsional shock and dampen driveline vibrations, delivering smoother engagement characteristics that make stop-and-go driving tolerable. The ceramic-lined discs provide slightly aggressive bite with excellent release properties--enough grip to launch hard at the strip, enough modulation to ease into first gear without jerking. This is the clutch for builders who want to drive to the track, rip off quarter-mile passes, and drive home without dreading the commute.
This kit is engineered specifically for 2010-2014 Shelby GT500 applications with the TR-6060 transmission. The 1-1/8-inch x 26 spline hub matches the factory input shaft, and the included aluminum flywheel features the correct 164-tooth ring gear for proper starter engagement. The kit also fits 2009-2015 Dodge Viper and select 2009-2010 and 2013-2015 Challenger models with matching spline configurations.
All McLeod clutches require a 500-750 mile break-in period of stop-and-go driving to properly seat the discs against the pressure plate and flywheel surfaces. During break-in and performance driving, traction control must be disabled to prevent clutch slippage. Do not dyno the vehicle until break-in is complete. Note: Use of this flywheel in 2015-2020 applications may require a crank relearn procedure or professional tuning.
