      FAQs

      Q. What makes MDL different than other less expensive crossmembers? A. MDL has designed our crossmember from laser cut steel and is CNC bent to exactting fit. We do not use bent tubing to provide a ton of exhaust clearance, provide a stock like apprearnace, and solid construction.

Since my 1967 Mustang restomod also has a Ford Coyote Gen 3 engine mounted on a Heidts ProG IFS, in addition to a Tremec TKX, I had to make some modifications. I think the rule would be: If the Tremec shifter is located moved forward about ~3/4" in the stock shifter opening = this part would fit fine. If the Tremec shifter is centered in the stock shifter opening (which is my situation) the center section of this mount needs to be cut out from the ends and rewelded about a 1/2" more rearward. Additionally, it wouldn't hurt to increase the "depth" of this mount as I had some indication that the top cover of the TKX was hitting on the upper transmission brace of the chassis at the existing depth (so I also rewelded the ends on to give a little more depth). You can always add shims to decrease the depth, but there is no way to use shims to increase the depth.
Note From Store Owner: Proper fitment of the crossember is depentant on engine placement and the attachment points. If the engine is raised or pushed back this will effect drive angle and placement of the TKX. It has been discovered that reproduction mustang body the floor support is not in the OEM location. We do offer a "deeper" center mount crossmembers for TKO (MD-6773M-TKO), this does increase the drive angle when the Engnine crank center line is the stock location.
