When you need maximum torque capacity from a 10.4" clutch package but can't step up to a larger diameter disc, ceramic friction surfaces deliver the aggressive holding power your high-horsepower Ford demands. This Superior clutch set solves the size-versus-power problem with ceramic facings on both sides of the disc, creating a higher coefficient of friction than organic or Kevlar materials while handling the extreme temperatures that hard launches and aggressive road course sessions generate.
The ceramic friction material includes iron particles that actually increase friction as operating temperatures climb - exactly what drag racing launches and sustained high-load driving demand. Where organic clutches fade under heat, ceramics dig in harder. This makes them the go-to choice when you're making serious power but your engine combination limits you to a sub-11" disc diameter. The three attributes that determine clutch torque capacity are surface area, coefficient of friction, and pressure plate clamping force. When you can't increase disc size, ceramic surfaces let you boost the friction coefficient instead.
Every Superior clutch is hand-assembled at MDL's facility with double-riveted disc construction that maintains precise facing alignment under extreme loads. The sprung hub design dampens drivetrain shock during engagement, reducing stress on the transmission input shaft and improving overall durability. The included cable release profile throwout bearing bolts directly to factory cable clutch actuation systems found on '86-'95 5.0L Mustangs and similar Ford applications.
