The 9.5" diameter disc maximizes surface area for the EcoBoost platform, while the diaphragm pressure plate delivers progressive engagement that's manageable in traffic yet locks down hard under power. Both friction surfaces use Kevlar material for consistent coefficient of friction through temperature extremes - critical when you're pushing the EcoBoost hard on track or spirited street driving. The sprung hub absorbs torsional shock that would otherwise stress transmission input shafts, synchros, and driveline components.
Each clutch assembly is hand-built at MDL facilities in Caldwell, Idaho, with quality control checks before shipping. This kit is designed exclusively for hydraulic release systems and requires MDL flywheel MD-LBS-120 for proper fitment. Pressure plate bolts (MD-403-2008-ARP-6) and flywheel lock washers (1278817) sold separately.
