    Description

    Converting your early Ford inline-six to a T5 five-speed requires clutch components that match your engine's unique bolt pattern - and the 1960-1966 144/170/200ci blocks are different from everything that came later. These early engines use an 8.5-inch clutch with a stepped "dog dish" flywheel and the small bellhousing pattern identified by a three-bolt starter mount. Attempting to fit a 9-inch clutch from a later 200ci simply won't work. This Superior clutch kit solves the T5 conversion challenge with components specifically engineered for the early small-pattern Ford six.

    The 10-spline, 1-1/16" hub matches the T5's input shaft configuration, while the organic/organic friction material delivers smooth, progressive engagement ideal for street driving. The sprung hub design absorbs drivetrain shock loads during clutch engagement, reducing wear on transmission synchronizers and extending component life. Every Superior clutch disc is hand-assembled in MDL's facility with double riveting to maintain exacting tolerances and flawless operation - no mass-production shortcuts.

    The 3-finger pressure plate bolts to your existing 8.5" long-pattern flywheel, maintaining compatibility with the mechanical clutch release systems used on these early applications. With a 100 lb-ft torque rating, this kit is sized appropriately for the moderate power output of stock and mildly modified 170-200ci engines while providing reliable, repeatable performance for daily driving and cruising.

    This complete kit includes everything needed for installation: pilot bushing for proper input shaft alignment, MD-406-1011 throw-out bearing for mechanical release operation, and an alignment tool for accurate disc centering during assembly.
