Description
Ford inline 6-cylinder engines from 1966-1973 used a 9in clutch, but finding a performance replacement that balances pedal feel and holding power has always been a challenge. This MDL Superior clutch kit solves both problems with a diaphragm pressure plate that delivers greater clamping force than conventional Long-style 3-finger clutches - yet without the heavy pedal effort those coil-spring designs require.
The Kevlar/Organic dual-friction disc combines nearly 100-percent Kevlar surfaces on the flywheel side for exceptional grip and heat tolerance with organic material on the pressure plate side for smooth, streetable engagement. Unlike many clutches that advertise Kevlar content but contain only 10-20 percent, Superior discs are built with genuine Kevlar concentration for durability under hard driving. This combination is optimum for performance street and occasional track use where you need reliable power transfer without the harshness of full-race ceramic materials.
All Superior clutches are hand-assembled in-house with absolute care using the finest components available. Each disc is double-riveted to prevent separation under abuse and inspected before shipping. The sprung hub design dampens drivetrain vibrations for smoother operation and longer transmission life, while the diaphragm pressure plate's Belleville spring provides consistent static pressure regardless of engine RPM.
