Description
The 2.3L EcoBoost delivers serious torque - up to 350 lb-ft in current Mustang applications - but that turbocharged power demands a clutch engineered for heat and abuse. MDL's Superior EcoBoost clutch solves the thermal management challenge with full Kevlar/Kevlar friction surfaces that thrive under the stress cycles of boosted engines.
Unlike clutches with minimal Kevlar content, this disc features Kevlar on both friction surfaces. The pressure plate side and flywheel side both get the benefit of Kevlar's superior heat resistance and progressive grab characteristics. This full-Kevlar design provides the grip and thermal stability that performance driving demands, while the sprung hub dampens driveline shock for civilized street manners.
The 9.5-inch diameter strikes the optimal balance for EcoBoost installations - large enough for solid torque handling without interference issues in tighter engine bays. The diaphragm pressure plate delivers consistent clamping force and progressive engagement that works well with hydraulic release systems. The 26-spline, 1-1/8" hub directly mates with modern overdrive transmissions including TKX, TKO, and T56 variants.
Engineered specifically for Ford 2.3L EcoBoost engines in street, autocross, and road racing applications. This clutch set requires the MD-LBS-120 flywheel assembly for proper installation. Additional required hardware includes MD-403-2008-ARP-6 pressure plate bolts and 1278817 lock washers for flywheel bolts. Medium-strength thread locker is required on all fasteners. Proudly made in the USA and backed by a 1-year free-from-defect warranty.
