Description
Converting a Ford big block to a modern TREMEC transmission demands a clutch that bridges old-school bolt patterns with new-school actuation. This MDL Superior clutch kit solves that problem with an 11.5" long pattern pressure plate specifically designed for big block change over (BBCO) applications, paired with a hydraulic release for seamless integration with modern hydraulic throwout systems. Ford's FE series (390, 427, 428) and 385 series (429, 460) big blocks share similar flywheel bolt patterns but differ in bellhousing configurations--this BBCO pattern accommodates those conversions while keeping engagement smooth and predictable.
Every Superior brand clutch disk is hand-assembled at MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility. Each disk is double-checked for accuracy before shipping, ensuring consistent pedal feel and engagement characteristics right out of the box. The organic/organic facings provide progressive engagement without the grabby, on-off behavior of aggressive friction materials--ideal for street-driven builds where driveability matters as much as holding power. At 350 lb-ft torque capacity, this clutch handles most naturally aspirated big block combinations without drama.
The 10-spline x 1-1/16" hub with sprung dampening absorbs shock loads during engagement, protecting your transmission input shaft and reducing drivetrain harshness.
