Description
When upgrading a Ford big block to a modern TREMEC transmission, the clutch has to bridge two worlds - the original Ford bolt pattern and a 26-spline input shaft that the factory never anticipated. The Big Block Change Over (BBCO) pattern solves this, and MDL's Superior series clutch set delivers the quality and precision that serious builders demand. Hand-assembled in-house at MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility, every clutch disc is double-checked for accuracy and tolerances before shipping, so you get a ready-to-install premium piece right out of the box.
The organic/organic facing combination offers the ideal balance for street-driven Ford FE, 385-series, and other big block applications. Unlike harsh ceramic or metallic facings that grab aggressively, organic material provides smooth, progressive engagement that's forgiving in stop-and-go traffic while still delivering a solid 400 lb-ft torque capacity. The 11.5-inch long pattern diaphragm pressure plate delivers consistent clamping force across the full disc face with lighter pedal effort than traditional three-finger Long-style pressure plates.
The 26-spline x 1-1/8-inch hub is purpose-built for TREMEC transmission swaps, mating directly to TKX, TKO, and T56 Magnum input shafts. The sprung hub design dampens driveline shock that would otherwise stress synchronizers and input shaft bearings - critical protection when pairing big block torque with a high-performance manual gearbox. This kit is configured for hydraulic release systems (internal or external slave cylinders), so no mechanical throwout bearing is included.
