Description
Ford's Big Block Changeover (BBCO) pattern solved a common problem: how to run an 11.5" clutch on a flywheel originally designed for a smaller unit. The 11.5" long pattern bolts to the existing flywheel bolt circle while delivering the increased clamping force and friction surface area of a larger clutch assembly. This Superior clutch kit brings that proven BBCO configuration together with organic friction facings and a 26-spline hub for Ford Big Block builds requiring the heavy-duty input shaft size.
The organic/organic friction material offers predictable engagement characteristics that street-driven and mild performance vehicles demand. Unlike aggressive ceramic or metallic facings, organic material grabs progressively rather than abruptly, making stop-and-go traffic and daily driving far more manageable. The diaphragm-style pressure plate provides consistent clamping force across the entire friction surface while requiring less pedal effort than Borg & Beck designs of similar holding capacity.
The 26-spline x 1-1/8" sprung hub is designed for transmissions like the Ford Toploader, TREMEC TKO, and TKX that utilize the larger input shaft spline count. The sprung hub design absorbs driveline shock during aggressive launches and reduces gear rattle at idle, extending transmission life while improving overall shift quality. With a 400 lb-ft torque rating, this kit handles stock to mildly built Big Block Ford combinations without breaking the bank.
Every Superior brand clutch disk is hand-assembled in-house at MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility. Each assembly is checked and double-checked for accuracy before shipping, so what arrives is a ready-to-install premium piece right out of the box. The included bronze pilot bushing is precision-manufactured from oil-impregnated Oilite bronze for long-lasting support of the transmission input shaft snout. Made in the USA and backed by a 1-year free-from-defect warranty.
