Description
Finding quality clutch components for Ford Flathead V8s is increasingly difficult, and period three-finger pressure plates deliver heavy pedal effort with inconsistent engagement. This Superior clutch kit solves both problems with a modern diaphragm pressure plate design engineered specifically for the 10" long bolt pattern used on 59A and 8BA/8RT Flathead engines.
Every Superior clutch disk is hand-built in MDL's facility to exacting tolerances. The organic/organic facing combination provides excellent modulation for street driving--smooth takeoffs and predictable engagement that works with the Flathead's power delivery. The diaphragm pressure plate eliminates the pedal fatigue and grabby engagement common with worn or rebuilt three-finger units, while the 250 ft-lb torque rating provides adequate capacity for most street Flathead builds.
Due to the design of modern diaphragm clutches, only 10" long pattern clutches fit the 59A engine and 8BA stamped or cast bell ring configurations. If your OEM flywheel supports the 10" long pattern, it can be reused after resurfacing with this clutch kit. The 10-spline x 1-3/8" hub maintains compatibility with period transmissions. The complete kit includes everything needed for installation--pressure plate, clutch disk, throwout bearing, pilot bushing, and professional alignment tool--so you're not chasing down missing components.
