Description
Converting your Ford Flathead V8 to a modern TREMEC five-speed requires a clutch purpose-built for the swap. Due to the design of modern diaphragm clutches, only 10" long pattern clutches fit the 59A engine and 8BA stamped or cast bell ring design. This MDL Superior clutch kit delivers the correct bolt pattern with 26-spline compatibility for TKO and TKX transmissions running the GM-style input shaft.
The Kevlar/organic friction material strikes an ideal balance between street manners and performance capability. Kevlar fibers provide exceptional heat resistance and durability under repeated engagement, while the organic compound ensures smooth pedal feel and extended service life. The diaphragm pressure plate maintains consistent clamping force across the entire friction surface, eliminating the hot spots and uneven wear common with older three-finger designs.
Every Superior clutch disk is hand-built in MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility, where technicians control critical tolerances that mass-produced units cannot match. The sprung hub absorbs driveline shock loads that would otherwise stress transmission components, and each assembly is checked and double-checked for accuracy before shipping. The included Ford Flathead pilot bearing and precision 0.590" alignment tool ensure proper installation.
