The dual-sided friction disc combines Kevlar material on the pressure plate side with organic facing on the flywheel side. This pairing delivers progressive engagement with excellent pedal feel while the Kevlar's heat resistance extends clutch life under demanding conditions. The organic flywheel-side facing protects your flywheel surface and provides the smooth, chatter-free engagement Y-block enthusiasts expect. The sprung hub design isolates drivetrain vibration and reduces gear rattle at idle.
Every Superior clutch disc is hand-built in-house at MDL, ensuring precise balance, proper marcel spring tension, and accurate spline machining. Each disc undergoes thorough inspection for runout, concentricity, and facing adhesion before packaging. The 10-spline configuration with 1-1/16-inch input shaft diameter is correct for the original Ford 4-speed as well as modern T-5, 3550, TKO, and TKX transmission swaps commonly installed in Y-block-powered vehicles.
The 3-3/8-inch diaphragm pressure plate provides consistent clamping force throughout its operating range and eliminates the adjustment requirements of period three-finger designs. This kit includes a Ford mechanical-style throwout bearing for standard bellhousing setups. Note: trucks require a different throwout bearing (MD-406-16515, sold separately). Made in the USA with a 1-year free-from-defect warranty.
