    Description

    The Ford Flathead V8 and its successor Y-block created the foundation of American hot rodding, but finding the right clutch for these vintage engines can be a challenge. Ford used 9.5", 10" long, 11" long, and 11" equidistant clutch patterns across different applications, making proper fitment critical. This MDL Superior clutch set solves the problem with an 11" long pattern specifically engineered for Y-block and Flathead applications that require a 23-spline hub.

    At the heart of this kit is an organic-faced clutch disk that delivers the progressive engagement characteristics these classic engines deserve. Unlike harsh ceramic or aggressive metallic facings, organic material provides smooth takeoff and forgiving operation--essential for vintage transmissions. The sprung hub design absorbs drivetrain shock and reduces gear rattle, while the 23-spline, 1" configuration matches the input shafts found on period Ford transmissions.

    The 3-3/8" diaphragm pressure plate uses modern engineering to improve on the original 3-finger design. Diaphragm springs provide more consistent clamping force throughout the clutch's life and require less pedal effort than coil spring assemblies. The 11" long bolt pattern ensures proper fitment on Y-block and Flathead flywheels, while the 300 ft-lbs torque capacity handles everything from stock cruising to mild performance upgrades.

    Every clutch disk is hand-built at MDL's Idaho facility, where technicians verify proper balance, facing adhesion, and hub straightness before packaging.
