Description
When you need clutch performance that bridges street driving and track abuse, dual-friction materials deliver the best of both worlds. The ceramic facing on the flywheel side provides the aggressive bite and heat tolerance that racing demands - ceramic compounds actually increase their friction coefficient as temperatures rise, making them ideal for repeated hard launches and aggressive shifting. The Kevlar facing on the pressure plate side moderates engagement characteristics, providing smoother pedal feel during normal driving while maintaining the holding power the ceramic side delivers under load.
This dual-friction approach targets the 500 ft-lb power range where stock organic discs start slipping but full ceramic feels too harsh for any street use. Ceramic materials feature a high static-to-dynamic friction ratio, meaning engagement can be abrupt with a full ceramic disc. By pairing ceramic with Kevlar - known for longevity and smooth engagement - MDL engineered a clutch that bites hard when you need it and behaves on the street when you don't.
The 10.5" diaphragm pressure plate uses the proven 11-5/8" GM bolt pattern, fitting early Chevy and BOP applications. The 10-spline 1-1/8" input shaft specification matches GM transmissions including Muncie 4-speeds, Saginaw 3 and 4-speeds, and TREMEC TKO conversions. The sprung hub design absorbs driveline shock that solid hubs transfer directly to transmission internals - critical for street-driven vehicles where NVH matters.
All MDL Superior clutch assemblies are hand-assembled in Caldwell, Idaho, with components double-checked for accuracy before shipping. Made in the USA with a 1-year free-from-defect warranty.
