Description
When you're building a high-horsepower GM combination but can't fit a larger diameter clutch, ceramic friction material delivers the holding power you need. Ceramic facings have a higher coefficient of friction than organic or Kevlar materials, so they bite harder and hold more torque given the same clamping force. This makes them ideal for drag racing launches, road course duty, and any application demanding quick, decisive engagement.
The full ceramic disk in this kit is engineered for extreme heat and abuse. The iron particles in MDL's ceramic compound actually increase friction as the material gets hotter - the clutch gets stronger under hard use, not weaker. For street-performance builds that need more holding power without stepping up to a larger clutch diameter, ceramics provide the solution when pressure plate clamp load alone isn't enough.
This kit's low lever height pressure plate is specifically designed for hydraulic concentric slave cylinder (CSC) setups. Standard pressure plates often don't provide adequate clearance for internal hydraulic throwout bearings, leading to binding or interference. The reduced lever height eliminates this issue, making installation straightforward in hydraulic-actuated applications. The sprung hub clutch disk absorbs driveline shock and provides smoother engagement than solid hub designs.
Every Superior clutch disk is hand-assembled at MDL's Caldwell, Idaho facility. Components are checked and double-checked for accuracy before shipping, so you receive a ready-to-install premium piece right out of the box.
