    Description

    When your AMC muscle car demands maximum holding power without sacrificing drivability, MDL's Superior Kevlar/Ceramic clutch set bridges the gap between mild organic street clutches and hardcore racing setups. The hybrid friction material pairs aggressive ceramic grip with kevlar's forgiving nature -- you get the bite you need for 550 HP applications while maintaining smooth engagement and extended service life. Unlike full ceramic discs that punish flywheels and chatter at low speeds, this combination moderates the ceramic's aggressive nature for real-world street/strip duty.

    The diaphragm-style pressure plate uses a one-piece Belleville spring to deliver consistent clamping force with significantly lighter pedal effort than the three-finger Borg & Beck designs common in vintage AMC applications. Where those coil-spring clutches strain linkages and wear out release forks, the diaphragm configuration provides smoother modulation and cleaner release. The 26-spline x 1-1/8" hub is designed specifically for builders running modern 5-speed and 6-speed transmission swaps -- if you're upgrading from a factory 10-spline gearbox to a TKO, T5, or similar high-performance manual, this is your clutch.

    The sprung hub absorbs driveline shock during aggressive launches and hard shifts, protecting both the transmission input shaft and the clutch assembly itself. For street/drag builds where you need grip under load but still want manageable pedal feel in traffic, kevlar/ceramic is the sweet spot. This isn't a race-only clutch that's miserable to live with -- it's a serious performance upgrade that won't punish you on cruise nights.

    Fits AMC applications using the 11-5/8" EQ pressure plate bolt pattern, including V8s (290, 304, 343, 360, 390, 401) and inline sixes with the correct flywheel. Every Superior clutch disk is hand-built at MDL's Caldwell facility to ensure precise tolerances and flawless operation before shipment. Made in the USA and backed by MDL's 1-year free-from-defect warranty.
