Description
The Superior Kevlar/Kevlar clutch set solves the grip-versus-streetability problem that plagues many S197 and S550 Mustang owners. Building power beyond stock levels demands more holding capacity, but ceramic and metallic disks introduce harsh engagement that makes daily driving miserable. This dual-Kevlar configuration delivers the torque capacity you need--500 lb-ft--while maintaining the smooth, progressive engagement characteristics that keep stop-and-go traffic from becoming a chore.
Kevlar facings excel where organic materials fall short. The material's high heat resistance allows it to dissipate temperature spikes during aggressive driving without glazing or fading, while its tensile strength characteristics provide dramatically longer service life. Unlike mixed-material disks that behave differently depending on which facing is engaged, the symmetrical Kevlar/Kevlar configuration provides consistent bite characteristics in both directions. The sprung hub isolates drivetrain harmonics, reducing the gear rattle and NVH that plague solid-hub performance clutches.
The 11" Ford Metric pressure plate with 10mm bolt pattern is the correct fitment for 2005-2025 modular and Coyote-powered Mustangs using hydraulic clutch actuation. This larger diameter--adopted by Ford starting in 2001--provides increased surface area for better heat dissipation and higher torque capacity compared to the earlier 10.5" units. The diaphragm-style pressure plate delivers linear pedal feel and consistent clamp load throughout its operating range.
