This MDL Superior clutch set pairs organic facings on both sides of the disc with a diaphragm pressure plate designed specifically for hydraulic throwout bearing applications. The dual organic friction surfaces provide the progressive bite characteristics street drivers want--consistent pedal feel and controlled engagement that makes stop-and-go traffic tolerable while still delivering 300 lb-ft of torque capacity for spirited driving.
The 11" clutch disc features a sprung hub design with Marcel spring that absorbs drivetrain shock and prevents the chatter that plagues rigid-hub setups. This dampening is critical for street applications where NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) matters as much as outright holding power. The 10-spline x 1-1/8" input shaft configuration makes this kit ideal for classic Ford manual transmission swaps, including TKO and T-56 Magnum conversions where the original 10-spline input is retained.
The diaphragm pressure plate uses the Ford 12-5/8" equidistant bolt pattern, requiring 3/8" pressure plate bolts (not included). This pattern works with flywheels drilled for GM-style 11-12" clutches--a common configuration on aftermarket Ford flywheels designed for modern transmission swaps. The included .590" ID pilot bushing fits small block Ford applications, ensuring proper input shaft alignment and preventing bearing wear.
