    Description

When your Ford build demands a short body front shifter location with zero offset on the shift stub, this MDL-modified TREMEC TKX delivers exactly that solution. Standard TKX transmissions ship with mid or rear shifter positions - this exclusive MDL configuration relocates the shift point forward to clear consoles, accommodate bench seats, or simply put the shifter exactly where you want it in your custom build.

The TKX represents TREMEC's first transmission designed from the ground up specifically for the performance aftermarket. The end-loading case design creates a slimmer profile than the TKO it replaces, fitting inside many stock muscle car and truck transmission tunnels without floor modifications. Structural stiffness comes from the ribbed 3-piece aluminum housing, while durability is optimized with oversized gear widths, caged needle bearings in all gear positions, and gaskets at every flange to eliminate leaks.

Shifting performance is where the TKX truly separates itself from older 5-speeds. Multi-cone synchronizers and hybrid synchronizer rings made of sintered bronze and carbon enable crisp, confident shifts at up to 7,500 RPM without the notchy, resistant feel of older designs. The internal three-rail shift system with steel shift forks provides a robust foundation, while the high-performance short-throw billet aluminum shifter isolates road noise and delivers clean engagement.

With 600 lb-ft torque capacity, the TKX handles serious power from small-block to big-block combinations. The transmission uses Dexron III ATF with a 2.7-quart capacity. This MDL-exclusive modification is built in Caldwell, Idaho and is not available through TREMEC or other distributors - only through Modern Driveline.
